Hi, I’m Jason. I’m a solutions architect interested in how systems fit together: data pipelines, bike networks, cities. This site is where I think through those ideas in public.

Work

I’m a Solutions Architect at Twilio, mainly covering Segment, but excited about our Conversations Layer. I work with enterprise customers, mostly in financial services, on how customer data is collected, governed, stored in the warehouse, and activated in downstream tools.

In regulated industries, good architecture balances rigor with what a team can realistically build and operate. That tension shapes most of what I write about.

My tools are mainly TypeScript and Node.js, Snowflake, AWS, and Terraform. I learn by building prototypes and iterating on them, well away from production. Many posts here start that way.

Outside Work

I live in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, on the edge of the Black Forest, after moving from Fort Collins, Colorado. I’ve been married for 20 years, and we have three kids.

Our household has 15 bikes, one for every type of cycling you could imagine. I enjoy gravel riding the most, but touring around Europe via the tour bike is a big desire. We’re also hiking the Westweg in stages. I read about 40 books a year, a mix of fiction & nonfiction.
