For me to have traveled from Porirua to the foot of the Bombay Hills just out of Auckland by six thirty, I would had to have crawled into the first car in the hospital parking lot and headed for Auckland at around 1,000 km/h.
- Role: subject
- In the article: The ticket places the alleged 1974 speeding offence near the Bombay Hills. Justin Lee argues the distance from Porirua makes it physically absurd, which is the joke of the letter.
- Why it matters: The location anchors the impossibility argument: the distance from his birthplace to this point is what yields the 911 km/h figure.
