A few days ago, I went to Disneyland. I had been invited to Anaheim to give a speech about my books, and my wife and I decided to use the opportunity to take our boys on an early summer visit to the supposed happiest place on earth.
- Role: subject
- In the article: Cal Newport visits Disneyland in Anaheim with his wife and sons after a speaking invitation. He describes riding Pirates of the Caribbean and noticing its seams (jerky animatronics, acoustic panels in the ‘sky’), and uses the park as an analogy for the diluted, purified stimulation of phones.
- Why it matters: The park is the article’s concrete analogy for digital life; he liked it but was done after a couple of days.
