It’s about 40 kilometres away from the old commercial centre of Mumbai in Navi Mumbai.

- In the video: The B1M explains why Mumbai needed a second airport: the old one is at capacity, with intersecting runways and an awkward terminal. After a ten-year site search and three years of land purchase, builders flattened the 92 m Ulwe Hill by controlled blasting, reused the rock to raise the swampy ground by about six metres, and diverted and widened the Ulwe River around the site. Phase one opened in December 2025, with a planned capacity of 90 million passengers a year.
- Why it matters: The whole video is about building this airport on a difficult site; the swamp, hill and river are the story.
