We were stopping down at Yarmouth, and we decided we would go for a trip up the Yare.
- Role: setting
- In the book: Staying at Yarmouth as boys, the narrator and his friend Hector hire a sailing boat for a trip up the Yare, rig the sail wrongly, are driven before the wind and saved from capsizing only by running onto a mud bank, where they wait three hours to be rescued.
- Why it matters: A remembered episode in the chapter on sailing; the place itself barely matters.
