Ok, this is the Tour Montparnasse.
- Role: subject
- In the video: The B1M calls it the first skyscraper built in Paris: 210 m tall with 120,000 m² of offices, disliked by Parisians and now set for a renovation to help it blend in. It tells how Senator Edgard Pisani picked Montparnasse, once an artists’ haunt, for a modern office district around the overloaded Gare Montparnasse, and how the tower was built over metro line 6 from 1970 and finished in 1973. The skyscrapers of La Défense, beyond the ring road, serve as the contrast.
- Why it matters: The tower is the whole subject, and its reception explains why central Paris stayed low-rise.
