We should sail up the Paraguay River for a hundred miles and then turn east up the Jejui, one of its major tributaries.
- Role: journey waypoint
- In the book: On the company launch Cassel they go up the Paraguay River, capsize the speedboat among floating camelote weed, then turn up the winding Jejui. The Captain refuses to go farther, and a night-time logger, Cajo, offers to carry them up the Curuguati tributary instead.
- Why it matters: The river route structures the rain-forest leg of the expedition.
