- Role: setting
- In the book: A District Officer’s station beside a long straight stretch of the Mazaruni River is the base for three weeks. The team films leaf-cutter ants and three-toed sloths (one gives birth), and travels in outboard canoes to Akawaio villages, filming woodskin canoe making, cassava processing and a cliff of ochre paintings.
- Why it matters: The main rain-forest location of the chapter, where most of the filming happens.
